Inhalte-Veredelung mit Metainformationen

Die Metainformationen sind präzise Informationen über („meta“) den Inhalt des Dokuments; sie charakterisieren den Inhalt mithilfe eines festgelegten Satzes an Beschreibungs-Elementen (z.B. Titel, Autor, Datum, Verleger, Schlagworte etc.).

Metainformationen sind unerlässlich für das Auffinden von Informationen. In einer ZMS-Website basieren Navigation und Darstellung der Dokumente auf den Metainformationen. Die hier vorgestellten sieben Elemente aus dem insgesamt 15 Elemente umfassenden Dublin Core Metadata Set (siehe Verweise) lassen sich in drei Kategorien einteilen und geben Informationen über den Inhalt, Urheberschaft und über formale Kriterien. "Dublin Core" (DC) ist ein internationales Schema, das 1995 von Bibliotheks-Wissenschaftlern vorgeschlagen wurde und sich heute als Standard durchgesetzt hat.
