ZMS 2.2 setzt voll auf die neueste Zope-Version 2.7 und damit einhergehend auch auf Python 2.3. Neben der Kompatibilität zu Python 2.3 (Einführung des Booleschen Typs) ist auch ein spürbarer Peformance-Gewinn zu verzeichnen. Um die Multilingualität von ZMS optimal zum Einsatz bringen zu können, werden ab ZMS 2.2 alle Inhalte nur noch im Unicode Format (UTF-8) gepflegt.
