Gradual release mechanism

Author: Dr. Frank Hoffmann,  HOFFMANN+LIEBENBERG, 2001/08/18

A simple release model allows an efficient easy understandable workflow only knowing two roles and two document states by default: "processed" and "released".

Each folder object can be equipped with new/different users through the rights option; , ZMS by default knows the author and the editor in addition to the administrator. The workflow is very simple:
1. The author constructs ZMS objects and can modify them
2. The release is done by the editor. He receives a status mail at each modification so that he is able to control the authors´activities. The workflow is optional and can be turned off.
As long as a document is not published it is held as "preview" copy and both versions of the document can be indicated with the preview tab: the processing copy and the actual live version.
The status bar of the ZMS interface indicates each processing step and enables a fast overview over the modification steps.

The workflow is supplemented by the possibility to turn off temporarily each single element through an "inactivation" (without deleting it).
