ZMS Newsletter 2.0

The ZMS Newsletter has been designed for small subscriber groups to which one can send synchronously (as BCC) the content of the special document 'Newsletter' with a Zope-generated mail sequence; at the same time this newsletter can be visible at the homepage as a common (special) document resp. can be archived.

Creator: D. Nordmann; 2003/11/23 , Version: 2.0

Download-File:
newsletter2_ger.zip (3KB)

Installation: The newsletter is part of the ZMS distribution and can be optionally activated with the initialization of a ZMS instance; for installation afterwards 3 objects are necessary:
1. Special object newsletter.xml (newsletter container, includes newsletter item objects)
2. Special object newsletterItem.xml (singular newsletter text)
3. ZMS action manage_sendnewsletteritem.xml (sends newsletter text).
The special objects (also as package 'specobj_newsletter.xml') are integrated into the ZMS instance as XML code per upload (under configuration/spec. obj.); also the send function as action (under configuration/actions).
First an object "Newsletter" is inserted from the editorial interface per action list to the content tree at that node that shall contain the newsletter items; this object includes the fields for sender and addressee and a repetition object "newsletter item" (child objects). In this the actual newsletter texts are placed; via the action list of the newsletter item the corresponding newsletter text can be sent to the addressees stored in the newsletter container.

Newsletter in the ZMS management interface (Note: since ZMS 2.0 subscribers are archived in a 'ZMS datatable' as an XML stream.)

The newsletter container object creates in the preview an input field in which subscribers can enter their e-mail address; the addresses are stored in the field "recipients".
