ZMS Double Opt-In HTML Newsletter 3.0

This Newsletter allows for sending HTML email newsletters to subscribers, that have applied for subscription using the double opt in method. It contains a dictionary for all language specific interface terms, such that the object can be used in multi-language sites.

Installation: The newsletter is contained within the ZMS distribution, but can also be installed by importing the Spec. Objects, the send action, and the language dictionary, for user of ZMS 2.9.2 this may be done in one upload step using the conf file:
1. Special Object Package DOI_HTML_Newsletter.xml with Newsletter-Container, Newsletter-Item, and Newsletter-Subscribers,
2. ZMS action send_Newsletter.metacmd.xml
3. Dictionary DOI_HTML_Newsletter.metadict.xml with English and German terms predefined for guiding users through the subscription process.

Preview of the newsletter. Interested recipients enter their e-mail address in the respective field and receive a specific e-mail with a confirmation link. After confirmation, they will be added to the list of active subscribers (double opt-in procedure).


Usage:


  1. Create a new object "newsletter" in the action menu.
  2. Edit an arbitrary page with the newsletter contents within your ZMS (use a page of type 'resource', since the newsletter is copied to the newsletter history anyway)
  3. Create a new newsletter-item with the newsletter object and link to the formerly created page object.
  4. Send the newsletter to all active subscribers using the action menu.

In its core, the newsletter-item consists of a link to the page object with the content.
