Mailing List

The special object Mailing List embeds the ZOPE product Mailboxer into ZMS templates. Moderators administer their mailing lists through the ZMS interface. E-mail communication threads can be displayed on web-pages. This special object helps especially learning and expert groups. It makes the management of group interaction convenient and efficient.

A moderator can directly define a mailing list address. It contains the domain name of the respective ZMS instance (e.g. course1@university_abc.edu). Members can cancel their membership by themselves via e-mail. The administration and technical workload for moderators is low.
Messages sent to the list are distributed automatically to all members and, in addition, are displayed on a website according to the website design and layout (see following example).

The special object Mailing List is comparable to e.g. yahoogroups. It is especially helpful if you need a list name with your own domain name and you would like the community messages to be displayed on your website.

The system administrator manages the ZOPE product Mailing List through the ZMS system interface (see following figure).
